Anyways. Still not certain of this blog's future... I guess I don't find myself interesting enough to imagine people actually reading and following my blog. But it is fun for me so I guess that is the most important.
I think some of my blog will consist of movie reviews etc. And hopefully books to if I can manage to make it through one in less than a year! One of the great challenges of Kathleen...reading. more on this later!
So tonight we watched Dan In Real Life. I remember seeing it on a plane trip somewhere or other and remember really liking it. I still liked it! Don't you hate it when you loved a movie the first time(s) you saw it and come back to it years later only to find out it sucked? Big time? I have an excellent example of this: Finian's Rainbow, with Fred Astaire and lots of nobodies. My sister and I watched it countless times around St. Patrick's Day for years when we were younger. When we hadn't see it in a couple years and longed to watch it we tried to find it, to no avail. We asked everyone we knew if they had heard of it and if they knew where to buy it etc... we went on and on about how wonderful this movie was... well... let me tell you, we found it, watched it, and HATED it. With a passion. It wasn't just like we decided it was too childish for us then. This was THE most badly acted, stupid, dorky, horrible movie we had ever watched! Needless to say we were totally ashamed and embarrassed that we had gone on about it so much to all our acquaintances. I hope I haven't offended anyone by dissing this movie so much! We DID love it at one point in our lives - there must have been some reasons for that...? ANYWAYS! I am so glad Dan In Real Life was not one of these unfortunate cases!

ReplyDeletenever saw finian's island...
but your story about it reminded me of this time when i was a little kid and still really disliked minty toothpaste. i had just started reading... so probably around 4ish? and i was reading the toothpaste bottle before brushing. it said something like "most canadians prefer the taste of aim!" and i was thinking, oh, i'm canadian. so i should like this toothpaste. so i brushed my teeth. and i'm pretty sure it still burned my mouth and i hated it, but i went around saying i loved aim toothpaste after that. o_O kinda weird and sad. but anyway...
sorry for taking up your blog space with my story. hope you still liked it though! :)
